Parabhakar Misra wins Fulbright Scholarship

Prabhakar Misra, Ph.D., professor of physics at Howard University, has been selected as a Fulbright Scholar for 2004-2005 by the William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. He will spend the academic year at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in Mumbai, India. His research will focus on the laser spectroscopy of phenolic molecules and their complexes. These molecules, environmentally significant species, are present in toxic pollutants in wastewater. 

A professor at Howard University since 1988, Misra joins the ranks of the 261,000 Fulbright program alumni. Founded in 1946 under legislation introduced by former Senator J. William Fulbright of Arkansas, the program’s principal purpose is to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of the nearly 150 participating countries.
